Open Enrollment for 2026-2027 School Year

For the 2026-2027 school year in Iowa, the main open enrollment deadline for grades 1-12 is  March 1, 2026 , while prospective kindergarteners have a deadline of  September 1, 2026 , with exceptions possible for "good cause". Counselor News for October

  It is difficult to realize that the current school year is almost ¼ of the year through already! Grades for the 1st quarter will be posted by the end of October. Parents and students— please be aware that you can check student grades on JMC every day. If those grades are low, you still have time to get them back to where they need to be. The second progress report list was made available today. Parents will be notified of student progress in a letter from the school. Please make sure your student makes . . .

Welcome to the Essex Community School Guidance Department

Registration and Student schedules: Many people including administrators, school counselors, and teachers worked together in the spring and in June to create a schedule that works to accommodate and meet the needs of students in the core areas for language arts, math, social studies and science. Band and Choir were also given consideration since both programs include many students in grades 9-12. In addition, students in the construction trades program and culinary arts program were given special consideration. . . .
