Iowa Farm Bureau Federation Donates to New FFA Chapter

News Release
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Iowa Farm Bureau Federation Donates to New FFA Chapter
In 2023, the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation pledged $1,000,000 to support the All in for Ag Ed initiative and
the Iowa FFA through the Iowa FFA Foundation. The All in for Ag Ed initiative was created to support the
promotion and growth of Agricultural Education classes and FFA Chapters in Iowa schools and recruitment and
retention of Agricultural Education Instructors.
As a new FFA Chapter in 2022, the Essex FFA Chapter has brought leadership, personal development, and
career opportunities to students in the Essex School District. The Essex FFA Chapter is one of twenty-three
new FFA Chapters started since the beginning of the All in for Ag Ed initiative two years ago.
The Iowa Farm Bureau Federation is presenting a check for $1,500 to each new FFA Chapter that is started
since the beginning of the All in for Ag Ed initiative in 2023. The funds can be used by the FFA Chapter to
purchase supplies and equipment, such as a chapter set of FFA jackets, chapter banner, officer station
markers, or for any other materials needed. The All in for Ag Ed initiative is a special project sponsored by the
Iowa Farm Bureau Federation through the Iowa FFA Foundation.
With the tremendous growth in FFA Chapters, the need to recruit and retain Ag Education Instructors is vital.
“The combination of classroom instruction in Ag Education, the leadership provided through FFA, and
Supervised Ag Experience/Work Based Learning opportunities, is important for student success. The
commitment by the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation to support these new FFA Chapters is of great benefit for
that local Ag Teacher to create a positive environment for learning,” says Alan Spencer, Agricultural Education
Consultant at the Iowa Department of Education and State FFA Advisor.
The Iowa FFA Association represents over 20,600 members from 270 Iowa FFA Chapters. Nationally, there are
over 1,000,000 FFA members from over 9,400 FFA Chapters. The 100th Anniversary of the National FFA
Organization will be celebrated in 2028.
