Essex students put their knowledge and imagination to the test at the Essex Science Fair last week. Students from 5th-8th grade spent weeks working on their projects and Kindergarten joined in for a fun, group experiment. Congratulations to our winners and a great job to all participants!

Join us March 23rd for a free will donation Spaghetti Dinner from 5-7 PM with Donkey Basketball following at 7:00 PM. Proceeds go to the Essex Junior High Washington D.C trip.

Isaiah Sholes has been invited to play in the KMA All Star Classic at Iowa Western Reiver Arena at 7:00 PM on March 17th, 2026. Good luck and congratulations!

Event Highlights:
Location: Reiver Arena, Iowa Western Community College.
New Date: Tuesday, March 17, 2026 (Postponed from March 15).
Format: Girls game (1:00 PM original schedule), 3-point contest, Boys game.
Coverage: Available on KMA Radio and via live stream at kmaland.com.
Charity: Proceeds from the $5 entry fee benefit a local charity.
Note: The event was originally scheduled for Sunday, March 15, but was moved to Tuesday due to weather.

The Essex Science Fair will take place Friday, March 13th and is open to parents and community from 12:15-1:00 PM. Awards will be handed out Monday. Our students are eager to show everyone their hard work!

Students nominated by administrators attended the Corner Conference Connections Workshop held at Fremont Mills Community School. Students participated in icebreaker activities and fun games where they had the chance work with peers from area schools. They learned about communication, value driven leadership, mental health, wellness and sportsmanship.

Bella Simmons, a Junior at Essex CSD, received a I rating on her Original Oratory entry at the Iowa High School Speech Association's Individual District Speech Competition at East Union Community School in Afton Saturday, Feb. 28. Bella will perform at State Individual Speech Saturday, March 14 at Thomas Jefferson High School in Council Bluffs. Congratulations Bella!
