Students nominated by administrators attended the Corner Conference Connections Workshop held at Fremont Mills Community School. Students participated in icebreaker activities and fun games where they had the chance work with peers from area schools. They learned about communication, value driven leadership, mental health, wellness and sportsmanship.
Bella Simmons, a Junior at Essex CSD, received a I rating on her Original Oratory entry at the Iowa High School Speech Association's Individual District Speech Competition at East Union Community School in Afton Saturday, Feb. 28. Bella will perform at State Individual Speech Saturday, March 14 at Thomas Jefferson High School in Council Bluffs. Congratulations Bella!

Our students and staff had a blast dressing up for Sweetheart week and preparing for the Sweetheart dances. Thank you to Student Council and the Freshman class for all their hard work.

Sweetheart Week is 2/23-2/27 Monday- Costume Day and Day after Break Up Day Tuesday- Perfect Pair Day Wednesday- Wacky Wednesday and Switcheroo Day Thursday- Crazy Hair Day and Jersey Day Friday- Anti Valentines Day

Seniors Isaiah Sholes and Mariska Kirchert celebrated a big accomplishment of 750 and 500 rebounds.
Congratulations to Ryann Welchans on making the KMA Sports 2026 All-KMAland Girls Bowling Team.
Ryann is the top Sophomore in the area advancing to state and closing the year with a 161.80 score per game overall.

School has been canceled due to road conditions and inclement weather.
Congratulations Ryann Welchans on placing 27th out of 32 for State Bowling at Waterloo. Ryann posted a 497 series and represented Red Oak Bowling team as well as her hometown Essex, Iowa.
Students received awards for perfect attendance, positive leadership and Honor Roll at the 2nd QTR assembly.
Ryann Welchans has punched her ticket for State Bowling! She will bowl in Waterloo on February 10th at 9:00 AM.
