Drivers Education 2026 Expectations

·      30 hours of classroom instruction = ten 3-hour classes

·      6 hours of driving, partner must be present

·      Must have Learners Permit at all times. I will also make a copy of your LP.

·      1 unexcused absence

·      Must have parental notification for an excused absence

·      Students can be expelled for missing two or more classes or drive times

·      Students can be expelled for disruptive or disrespectful behavior

·      Bring a notebook and pencil to class

·      Be on time

·      No refunds

2026 Essex Drivers Education

Classroom time must equal 30 hours.  Drive time = six hours in Drivers Ed and 20 hours total.

Classroom time = 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. with drive time to follow.  You must have your Learners Permit to attend classes and to drive.  Please begin driving with your parents as soon as you get your Permit.  The website is https://iowadot.gov/mvd/driverslicense/under-18
